| Young musicians
perform to aid their schools
While most
students are relishing the oncoming freedom
of summer vacation, one group of Leominster
students is happily at work on one last
school project. Only this project is one
that they have been anticipating in for
months.
The
students of the Michael J. Rice Piano Studio
of Leominster are presenting "Piano at the
Pops," a benefit concert to support the
Leominster Education Foundation.
"It's going
to be a fun time for everyone," says Michael
Rice, the director of the Michael J. Rice
Piano Studio. "What better endeavor for
students to work towards than something that
will give back to their own schools, and
ultimately, to themselves."
The
Leominster Education Foundation is a
charitable foundation working to provide the
Leominster Public Schools with financial
support for exemplary educational projects
and programs that are beyond the traditional
scope of public education funding. The
Foundation's first significant funding focus
is directed toward enhancing educational
technology tools in Leominster's elementary,
middle and high schools.
"Piano at
the Pops" will feature a wide range of
popular musical performances given by the
students and friends of the Michael J. Rice
Piano Studio.
"For a
while, I have been looking for a way to give
back to the community that supported me and
my business," said Rice. "I also appreciate
the support given to me by the Mayor's
Office and the Superintendent's Office in
making this effort a success. 'Piano at the
Pops' is a wonderful opportunity for my
students and I to be a part of something
bigger than ourselves."
